Centre for Non-Profit Leadership Announces Succession at its Helm

The Centre for Non-Profit Leadership (CNPL) announces that Mr Yoon Wai Nam, Chief Executive Officer is stepping down today after four years of service. Mr Yoon had requested for a 2-year term when he assumed the role in August 2013 and is now voluntarily vacating his seat to make way for leadership renewal. His duties and responsibilities will be assumed by Ms Winifred Loh in her new role as Managing Director.

Under Mr Yoon’s stewardship, CNPL put in place several new board programmes for the NPO sector, most notable of which are those on leadership succession planning and educating new Board volunteers in the proper and appropriate discharge of directors’ duties.

A firm believer in the value of research, he spearheaded several surveys. Conducted in conjunction with expert volunteer partners, these surveys aimed to track the many challenges faced by NPOs. These helped CNPL to fine-tune its programme offerings and recommend best practices that are invariably shared within the sector.

Always concerned with scaling up CNPL’s operations without a corresponding increase in operating cost, Mr Yoon has turned to technology for an answer, demanding the implementation of a website with online tools to reach out and share learnings with NPO leaders in Singapore.

Ms Winifred Loh joined CNPL as Director, People and Organisation in July, 2014. She has extensive experience in organisational development, succession planning and transformational leadership. At CNPL, she introduced Strategic Conversations as a way to facilitate thought partnership with NPO leaders in addressing their organizational challenges. Having volunteered in the NPO sector since 2000 while working in the private sector for much of her career, she is no stranger to many. She also holds the position of President, AWARE, a women’s advocacy group.
